Prof. Pastry's Simple Glaze
Hello, my friends, and welcome back to Professor Pastries Bakery. And this evening, I am here to tell you how to make a glaze for your cakes or donuts or any other pastries. It is simple and quick and easy, but it is also delicious. So you will most likely be able to impress your guests, your friends, whoever you are sharing your desserts with. All you need is, equipment-wise, a one-cup measuring cup, a teaspoon, a teaspoon, and either a sifter, or, if you do not have one of them, a fork. Salad, dinner, whatever works. Ingredient-wise, you will need powdered sugar, also known as confectioner sugar, if you're fancy. Vanilla extract. I do recommend the genuine good stuff, but in a pinch, imitation vanilla works. And a liquid of your choice: water, milk, oak milk, half and half, what have you. And you'll also need a mixing bowl. Generally speaking, you're always going to need a mixing bowl. So step one, you're going to take your confectioner sugar, and you are going to measure out two cups. You are then going to sift those two cups. Ups, either with a sifter or, and this is a quick life hack, you can take a fork and sift it like so.
Just take it and mix it, toss it, break it up. And doing so will just make it easier to mix and combine with everything. So... Yeah. There you go. Once it's sifted, you are going to add 2-4 tablespoons of milk or water to the powdered sugar. Let's go within even three. And then you're going to add a teaspoon of vanilla extract or Imitation vanilla extract. Be sure and do not mix up your teaspoon and your tablespoons. If you add a teaspoon of vanilla extract It will taste like you basically just shotgunned a whole bunch of vanilla. You're then going to mix or whisk it all up. If it's too thick, you can add another teaspoon or so, or a teaspoon or so, I mean, excuse me, of liquid. If it's too thin, You can add more powder sugar. But either way, you are going to mix it until everything is blended. Until you have a yummy Pardon my hand. Yummy glaze. Look at that. It's delicious. It's good for cakes, good for scones, good for donuts. And best of all, it keeps well in the fridge. So if you are in a an aspiring baker and want to have something on hand to top your cakes or your pastries, vanilla glaze is good in a pinch.
You can also, if you're feeling fancy and frisky, pick up some orange glaze or lemon glaze or almond glaze or any glaze. The world is your oyster glaze-wise. Anyway, thank you for joining me on this quick and handy hack. Happy baking.
